Women’s Cardiovascular Health
Why is Women’s Cardiovascular Health Important at C³?
Women’s cardiovascular health remains an important area of our focus at C3 for three main reasons:
Heart disease in women remains the number one cause of death, and can affect women of any age.
Heart disease in women presents its own unique set of challenges as symptoms are often very different than those of men.
Life transitions such as pregnancy and menopause can have an impact on cardiovascular health.
How is C³ Different?
While we routinely treat women with cardiovascular conditions such as coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and valvular heart disease, the Chahal Cardiovascular Centre specializes in treating cardiovascular conditions that are more common in women, such as:
- Pregnancy associated hypertension and heart disease
- Peri-partum cardiomyopathy
- Heart Failure related to breast cancer chemotherapy
- Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD)
- Microvascular disease
We also collaborate with many other health-care experts throughout our region, in primary care, obstetrics, oncology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery, to provide the best possible, coordinated and integrated care for each of our patients.
